Vietnam is a destination where history and culture intertwine. The diversity of the cultural heritage sites reflects the uniqueness of history. Official statistics show that Vietnam has around 40,000 tangible and 60,000 intangible heritages. Most of them are in connection with temples, pagodas, monuments, churches, and expressed in religious rituals, traditional festivals and art forms.

Once was heavily influenced by Chinese culture due to the "1000 years of Northern Rule", a lot of ancient temples, pagodas, palaces with the elements coming from China can be found in the whole country such as Hoa Lu Temple in Ninh Binh; Temple of Literature, Tran Quoc Pagoda, Ngoc Son and Quan Thanh Temples in Hanoi; the imperial city of Hue including the Citadel and numerous royal tombs, Jade Emperor Pagoda in Ho Chi Minh City... All were built with the distinctive features of ornamental roofs, doorways and banisters on multi-level towers.

In the central and southern parts of Vietnam, from the 10th, the southward expansion and annexed territories formerly belonging to Champa and Khmer of Vietnamese dynasties' dominions left numerous ruins and artefacts such as My Son Sanctuary in Quang Nam, Po Nagar Cham Towers in Nha Trang, Po Shanu Cham Towers in Phan Thiet... Influenced by Hinduism, all temples were built featuring elaborate carvings to honor Hindu gods existing as the incredible evidences of the fascinating period of Vietnamese history.

From the 19th century, the French colonialists brought Western concepts and ideas into Vietnam and left its mark in Vietnam’s cafe culture, culinary inspirations and architecture. The iconic landmarks have been remained until now are the Long Bien Bridge built from 1899 to 1902, Hanoi’s Old Quarters featuring colonial French architecture and urban planning, the elegant Opera House in Hanoi built in 1911, the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Saigon constructed between 1863 and 1880... While the European style the French introduced was popular in Vietnam, it gradually melded with local sensibilities becoming a unique and captivating architectural hybrid. Phat Diem Cathedral in Ninh Binh, Cua Bac Church and the Vietnam National Museum of History in Hanoi, Khai Dinh Tomb and An Dinh Palace in Hue... are the representatives of this fascinating fusion of two sides of the globe.
